Welcome Prof. Wei-Mon Yan as Editor-in-Chief of Advanced Energy Conversion
OAE's Advanced Energy Conversion, a newly launched interdisciplinary, open-access journal dedicated to advancing research that accelerates the global transition to sustainable, carbon-neutral energy systems, is honored to announce the appointment of Prof. Wei-Mon Yan as its Editor-in-Chief. Prof. Yan is a world-renowned scholar in energy science and thermal engineering from the National Taipei University of Technology, Taiwan, China.
About the Journal
Advanced Energy Conversion aims to provide a platform for innovative research that enhances efficiency, sustainability, and carbon reduction across diverse energy conversion processes. Special emphasis is placed on advanced conversion pathways, integrated energy systems, novel reactor and device concepts, and practical strategies that bridge laboratory discoveries with large-scale and industrial applications. Priority is given to studies offering new insights into the thermochemical, electrochemical, and photochemical conversion of renewable and conventional resources, as well as research on waste-to-energy processes and negative-emission technologies.
About Prof. Wei-Mon Yan

Prof. Wei-Mon Yan stands as a pioneering authority at the intersection of energy conversion, thermal management, and low-carbon technologies. He earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan, China, and currently serves as a Distinguished Professor at the Department of Energy and Refrigeration Air-Conditioning Engineering at National Taipei University of Technology, where he leads cutting-edge research on high-efficiency energy systems and sustainable thermal technologies. His administrative acumen, honed through administrative roles including Dean (2001–08) and President (2005–10) at Huafan University, Taiwan, China, further complements his scientific leadership, strengthening his ability to bridge academic innovation with institutional collaboration.
Prof. Yan's research has made significant contributions to global energy conversion, particularly in areas critical to achieving carbon neutrality and renewable energy integration. His work includes: optimizing proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) performance through advanced membrane humidification and thermal management; developing microchannel heat sinks and nano-enhanced phase change materials (NEPCM) for high-efficiency electronic cooling; advancing membrane dehumidification systems for low-carbon heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) applications; and exploring hydrogen storage materials (e.g., zeolites) and waste-to-energy technologies. Notably, his research integrates fundamental thermodynamics and heat/mass transfer principles into practical engineering solutions. Examples include solar-heat pump hybrid systems and vanadium redox flow battery flow field designs, both of which have been adopted in industrial applications to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon footprints.
The Editorial Office of Advanced Energy Conversion warmly welcomes Prof. Yan as Editor-in-Chief. We are confident that under his guidance, the journal will grow into a high-impact platform for disseminating groundbreaking research in advanced energy conversion. We look forward to close collaboration with Prof. Yan and the broader academic community to strengthen the journal's rigor, expand its global reach, and foster innovative solutions that support the transition to a sustainable, low-carbon energy future.
