Bio
Jianbo Zhang is a tenure-track assistant professor of microbial physiology at the Swammerdam Institute for Life Sciences, the Faculty of Natural Sciences Mathematics and Informatics (FNWI) of the University of Amsterdam (UvA). He obtained his PhD in Health Science and Technology at ETH Zurich. He did his postdoc training at the Depart-ment Biological Engineering of MIT, working on establishing a microphysiological sys-tem for microbe-host interactions. Since 2021, he has been working at the SILS of the UvA. He focuses on dissecting host-microbiome interactions using anaerobic culturing, advanced in vitro human gut models, and multi-omics. He is involved in several national and international consortia project including METAHEALTH, HOLOMICROBIOME, Break-through Momentum. More information about his research can be found here.
