On November 17, 2025, we invited Dr. Ling Lin from Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, Shanghai, China, who as a youth editorial board member of The Journal of Cardiovascular Aging (JCA) conducted an interview with Dr. Fenling Fan, a clinical doctor from The First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University, China. Dr. Fan discussed his team's long-term work in pulmonary vascular diseases, particularly pulmonary embolism and pulmonary arterial hypertension, and their efforts in building China's early specialized and multidisciplinary centers for pulmonary arterial hypertension. Her research integrates clinical cardiology, interventional techniques, and translational medicine to improve outcomes in these complex and high-risk conditions. Looking ahead, he emphasized the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration and continued translational research to advance diagnosis and treatment strategies in pulmonary vascular and cardiovascular diseases.

Watch the conversation between Dr. Fenling Fan and Dr. Ling Lin:

Interview Questions:

1. Could you please briefly introduce the research work of your research group?
2. You have been deeply involved in the field of interventional treatment for structural heart diseases for a long time. Could you share the most impressive challenge you have encountered in the process of integrating clinical practice with research?
3. You were involved in promoting the concept of "multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment for pulmonary arterial hypertension". What do you think is the crucial role that multidisciplinary collaboration (MDT) plays in the management of cardiovascular diseases?
4. In the treatment of patients with structural heart diseases or pulmonary hypertension, what new challenges and opportunities do clinical translational research present?
