Social defeat affects inflammatory signaling and exploratory behavior in mice in a sex-dependent manner

Figure 3. Effect of repeated social defeat (RSD) on locomotor activity, exploratory behavior, and anxiety-like behavior. C57BL/6J mice (n = 8-12 per group) were subjected to RSD (exposure to a same-sex CD-1 aggressor mouse for 2 h/day for 6 consecutive days). At 12 h after the final bout of social defeat, subjects were then subjected to behavioral testing. Behavioral tests included a 10-min open-field test, followed by a 5-min elevated plus maze. Data were analyzed by two-way ANOVA followed by pair-wise comparisons and represent mean ± S.E.M. *P < 0.05
