Abstract
The occurrence of nanomaterials in the environment is not a recent fact. It is known their early applications on ceramic reinforcement and dye production. However, their wide applications and multiple uses -nowadays- have generated an increasing of engineered nanomaterials in environmental compartments. About a 7% of the global production is considered that it is released to the aquatic systems (Keller et al., 2013). Under the umbrella of nanomaterials is possible to find a great number of compounds with different composition, chemical structure physicochemical characteristics and toxicity. In consequence, there is a certain concerns about how nanoparticles can distribute and interact with aquatic species and to exert a toxic effect. To give a response to these open questions and information gaps, nanotoxicology is focused on the toxic effects of nanomaterials and different approaches and strategies have been applied. In this webinar, we are going to summarize different techniques, case studies and approaches to assess the impact of nanomaterials in the environmental compartments.
