Emanuele Cigna M.D., Ph:D, F.A.C.S., is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is currently Full Professor of Plastic Surgery, Head of the Unit of Plastic Surgery and Microsurgery and Director of the EndoCAS Surgical Research Center at the University of Pisa and the Pisa University Hospital in Italy. He is an active member of italian societies of SICPRE, SIM, SICM, and the international societies as WSRM and the ACS.
He did his clinical residency training in Plastic Surgery and the PhD graduation at the “Umberto I” University Hospital of Sapienza University in Rome, Italy. He also trained in Breast Reconstructive Surgery at “Regina Elena” National Cancer Institute. Moreover, Prof. Cigna completed the Fellowship in Reconstructive Microsurgery in Taiwan, I-Shou University, and the Fellowship in Hand Surgery and Replantation in Masarik University of Brno Czech Republic. Has published over 150-peer review articles, more than a dozen book chapters and serves as editorial board member and reviewer for several journals in Plastic Surgery. He is currently actively involved in several projects for bionic limbs, robotic surgery and lymphatics, allotransplantation and simulation in surgical research and training.
