Speaker(s)

Dr. Ana Luísa Patrício Silva

Ana Luísa Patrício Silva is an assistant researcher in the Department of Biology & Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies (CESAM) at the University of Aveiro, Portugal. She holds a degree in Biology and Geology, an MSc degree in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources, and a PhD in Biology and Environmental Sciences. Her research combines ecotoxicology, analytical chemistry, and biotechnology to assess the environmental impacts of plastic and e-waste pollution and develop biobased, sustainable remediation strategies. She is internationally recognised for her contributions to environmental science and is among the most-cited scientists by Stanford University since 2022.

Dr. Ettore Napoli

Ettore Napoli (b. 1985, Petralia Sottana, Italy) is an Associate Professor of Parasitology and Animal Parasitic Diseases (SSD VET/06) at the Department of Veterinary Sciences, University of Messina. He holds a PhD in Veterinary Public Health and Animal Production and has extensive research experience on vector-borne diseases, canine dirofilariosis, snail-transmitted parasitic infections, intestinal protozoa of zoonotic concern, and myiasis in domestic animals.
He has led and participated in numerous national and international projects, including training programs on arthropod vectors in Europe and Latin America. His long-standing collaborations include Universities in Bari, Catania, Perugia, and Paris, as well as industrial partners such as Bayer Animal Health and Boehringer Ingelheim, with whom he has conducted multiple clinical trials in veterinary parasitology.
