Special Issue Introduction
The ongoing global industrialization and urbanization processes are accelerating the release of emerging pollutants and micro(nano)plastics into the water cycle, posing a significant threat to the environment and human health. To tackle this issue, new technologies have been developed for the removal of diverse pollutants, and advancements in new theories, functional materials, and techniques have made substantial contributions to environmental protection. This Special Issue aims to highlight recent progress in the development of theories, systems, techniques, and functional materials for the elimination of emerging contaminants and micro(nano)plastics.

Proposed topics include, but are not limited to:
1. Identification and analysis of emerging contaminants and micro(nano)plastics;
2. Advanced Membrane Technology for Filtering and Separating Micro(nano)plastics and emerging Pollutants in Water;
3. Exploration of physical processes, advanced oxidation processes (such as photocatalysis, ozone oxidation, electrooxidation, etc.) and advanced reduction processes for removing organic pollutants and Micro(nano)plastics from water;
4. Utilization of biological microorganisms or enzymes to degrade and purify pollutants and Micro(nano)plastics in water;
5. The application of nanomaterials, such as nanoparticles and nanofibers, for the removal of emerging pollutants and micro(nano)plastics from the water cycle;
6. Development of advanced sensor technology and data analysis methods to enable real-time monitoring and assessment of pollutant and micro(nano)plastics concentrations and distributions in aquatic environments;
7. Recovery and reuse of micro(nano)plastics and pollutants obtained from contaminated water;
8. Exploration of natural ecosystems such as wetlands and artificial wetlands for the purification of pollutants and microplastics in water bodies.
