Special Topic Introduction

Extracellular vesicles (EVs), including microvesicles, have emerged as important mediators of intercellular and inter-organ communication in vascular, cardiopulmonary, and cardiovascular biology. Since our previous Special Issue, Microvesicles and Exosomes in Vascular Biology,” published in 2020, the field has advanced substantially, with increasing focus on EV heterogeneity, molecular cargo, multi-omics characterization, and their roles in vascular inflammation, remodeling, thrombosis, cardiometabolic diseases, and vascular aging.

 

This Special Issue, Exosomes (Extracellular Vesicles; EVs) in Vascular Biology, Cardiovascular Physiology and Medicine: Intercellular Communication and Therapeutics,aims to highlight these recent advances and future opportunities. In addition to fundamental mechanisms of EV-mediated vascular communication, we welcome studies on EV-based biomarkers and liquid biopsy, immune–vascular crosstalk, engineered EVs and targeted delivery, regenerative and cell-free therapies, as well as EV manufacturing, standardization, safety, and clinical translation. We hope this Special Issue will provide an updated perspective on how EV research is moving from mechanistic discovery toward precision medicine and therapeutic applications in vascular and cardiovascular diseases.

 

We welcome Original Research Articles, Reviews, Perspectives, Opinions, Commentaries, and other relevant article types.
