Special Topic Introduction

What once seemed like science fiction is rapidly becoming clinical reality. Artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping the landscape of modern medicine, and aesthetic surgery is no exception. From predicting surgical outcomes to enhancing patient consultations and personalizing treatment strategies, AI-driven technologies are opening new possibilities for both surgeons and patients. Yet, as innovation accelerates, a fundamental question remains: how can these technological advances be translated into meaningful, safe, and evidence-based improvements in clinical practice?

This Special Issue, “Artificial Intelligence in Aesthetic Surgery: Clinical Applications and Future Directions,” aims to explore the rapidly evolving intersection of AI and aesthetic surgery, highlighting emerging technologies, clinical applications, and future opportunities across facial, breast, and body aesthetic surgery, as well as minimally invasive aesthetic interventions.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, AI-assisted patient assessment, automated image analysis, surgical planning and simulation, outcome and complication prediction, intraoperative decision support, postoperative monitoring, and applications of large language models in patient education and communication.

We invite original research articles, reviews, and expert perspectives that critically examine both the opportunities and challenges of integrating AI into aesthetic surgery. Particular attention will be given to clinical validation, algorithmic bias, ethical considerations, and real-world implementation. By bringing together clinicians, researchers, and technology experts, this Special Issue seeks to bridge the gap between technological potential and clinical reality, helping shape the future of evidence-based, patient-centered aesthetic surgery.
