Special Topic Introduction

Regenerative Plastic Surgery is rapidly transforming both reconstructive and aesthetic surgery by integrating advances in regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, biomaterials, and cell-based therapies. Rather than focusing solely on replacing or reshaping tissues, regenerative approaches aim to restore tissue structure and function by harnessing the body's intrinsic healing potential.
 
Among the most significant developments in recent years are autologous fat grafting, adipose-derived regenerative cells, stromal vascular fraction, platelet-rich plasma, bioactive scaffolds, and emerging biomaterials. These innovations have expanded therapeutic options for soft-tissue reconstruction, breast surgery, chronic wound management, scar treatment, craniofacial reconstruction, and facial rejuvenation. At the same time, advances in three-dimensional technologies and personalized regenerative strategies continue to improve both functional and aesthetic outcomes.
 
Despite these advances, important challenges remain, including the standardization of surgical techniques, optimization of regenerative protocols, objective outcome assessment, and the generation of high-quality clinical evidence to support widespread clinical implementation.
 
This Special Issue aims to provide an updated overview of current advances in Regenerative Plastic Surgery by bringing together original research articles, clinical studies, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and expert perspectives. We welcome contributions addressing innovative regenerative approaches in reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, including adipose tissue biology, fat grafting, biomaterials, tissue engineering, wound healing, scar management, and other emerging technologies.
 
We hope this Special Issue will serve as a valuable platform for scientific exchange, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and contribute to the continued advancement of regenerative plastic surgery for the benefit of both patients and clinicians.
