Special Topic Introduction
Dear Colleagues,
We invite authors to submit manuscripts to this Special Issue devoted to recent advances and emerging trends in modern breast surgery, with a particular focus on autologous breast reconstruction. Rapid progress in microsurgical techniques, perioperative management, imaging technologies, and outcomes research continues to redefine reconstructive possibilities and improve long-term, patient-centered outcomes. This Special Issue aims to present high-quality scientific evidence, technical innovations, and thoughtful clinical perspectives that inform contemporary breast surgery practice.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, perforator-based reconstruction using established and novel donor sites, stacked and hybrid flap reconstruction, preoperative imaging and virtual surgical planning, intraoperative perfusion assessment, neurotization and sensory restoration, fat grafting and contour refinement, robotic-assisted surgery, and combined reconstructive and lymphatic procedures. We welcome submissions on these topics as well as related areas that advance the field of autologous breast reconstruction.
Subtopics:
● Stacked and hybrid flaps;
● Robotic-assisted surgery;
● Preoperative imaging and virtual planning;
● Intraoperative perfusion assessment;
● Neurotization and sensory restoration;
● Fat grafting and contour refinement;
● Lymphatic procedures.
