Special Topic Introduction
Over the centuries, the multidisciplinary management of cleft lip and palate has evolved remarkably, progressively enhancing outcomes in facial aesthetics, functional recovery, and psychosocial well-being. Currently, we are at a transformative moment, as converging advances in biology, materials science, and digital engineering are reshaping conventional therapeutic paradigms. Innovations such as regenerative surgical techniques, smart biomaterials, and artificial intelligence (AI)-powered planning and evaluation tools are revealing a unique opportunity to make one more step toward perfection in cleft care.
This Special Issue of Plastic and Aesthetic Research is dedicated to capturing these groundbreaking developments. We invite leading experts to share insights on next-generation therapies, refined surgical techniques, and digital solutions. By compiling these pioneering contributions, we aspire to accelerate progress toward the ultimate objective: achieving anatomical and functional outcomes that are indistinguishable from the natural state, while simultaneously reducing the physical, emotional, and economic burden of treatment on patients and their families. We invite you to join us in exploring these frontiers and shaping the future of cleft care.
