Topic: Coal-related Resources and Their Recovery and Applications

Coal, possessing vast reserves as a fossil energy source, has historically played a pivotal role in electricity generation and the iron/steel manufacturing sector. Nevertheless, the detrimental environmental consequences stemming from carbon emissions have catalyzed a shift away from coal-generated electricity. This transition is driven by a growing preference for cleaner and more sustainable energy alternatives. Concurrently, the iron and steel industry are witnessing a transformation as it leans towards greener reducing agents and fuels, gradually supplanting coal's dominance in this field. However, beyond its conventional roles as a fuel source and reducing agent, coal possesses a spectrum of untapped properties that can be harnessed for generating economic benefits. Additionally, numerous individuals and communities rely on coal as a vital means of sustenance. Therefore, the need to use coal in sustainable manners is becoming more and more important. The primary aim of this Special Issue is to assemble top-tier studies that make significant contributions to the advancement of this field. The subareas that will be discussed in this Special Issue include:

1. New findings or techniques for recognizing coal organic structure and inorganic components;

2. Advanced coal preparation and cleaning technologies;

3. Critical mineral recovery from coal and coal-related resources;

4. Graphite and other high-value carbon product generation from coal;

5. Other aspects related to the new utilizations of coal and coal-related resources.

This Special Issue welcomes original research articles, short communications, and review articles.
