Special Topic Introduction
Epigenetic regulatory networks play a central role in orchestrating gene expression without altering the underlying DNA sequence. Through dynamic and reversible modifications of DNA and histones, chromatin remodeling, non-coding RNA and etc, these networks govern cellular identity, development, and responses to environmental cues. Disruptions in epigenetic regulation have been increasingly implicated in a wide range of human diseases, including cancer, metabolic disorders, and neurological conditions.
Recent advances in high-throughput sequencing and multi-omics technologies have greatly enhanced our ability to dissect epigenetic mechanisms at unprecedented resolution. Integrative approaches combining genomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, and other omics layers are enabling a shift from single-dimensional studies to systems-level analyses of complex regulatory networks. In parallel, emerging computational methods and data-driven models are accelerating the identification of key regulatory circuits and potential therapeutic targets.
This Special Issue, “Epigenetic Regulatory Networks: Mechanistic Insights and Multi-omics Integration,” aims to provide a comprehensive platform for high-quality research and timely reviews in this rapidly evolving field. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
● DNA methylation, histone modifications, and chromatin remodeling;
● Non-coding RNAs in epigenetic regulation;
● Epigenetic regulation of gene expression and cell fate determination;
● Single-cell and spatial epigenomics;
● Multi-omics integration and systems-level analysis;
● Epigenetic mechanisms in human diseases;
● Epigenetic biomarkers and therapeutic strategies.
By bringing together interdisciplinary perspectives, this Special Issue seeks to advance our understanding of epigenetic complexity and promote its translation into precision medicine.
