Special Topic Introduction
Male infertility affects millions of couples worldwide, yet its genetic, molecular, and cellular mechanisms remain incompletely understood. Advances in genetics, stem cell biology, and reproductive technologies now offer unprecedented opportunities to understand spermatogenesis and develop strategies for fertility restoration. Studies on human germ cell development and induction of primordial germ cells from pluripotent stem cells provide a foundation for translational applications.
The Special Issue “Decoding Male Infertility through Genetics, Diagnostics, and Fertility Recovery” seeks research on the genetic, molecular, and cellular basis of male infertility, as well as regenerative and diagnostic strategies to restore fertility. Submissions integrating genomics, single-cell and multi-omics analyses, in vitro gametogenesis, stem cell technologies, advanced imaging, and computational modeling are welcome.
Topics include:
● Genetic and genomic mechanisms of spermatogenesis;
● Molecular and cellular regulation of germ cell development;
● In vitro gametogenesis and regeneration;
● Molecular diagnostics and biomarker discovery;
● Stem cell–based and translational fertility restoration;
● Population genetics and evolutionary insights;
● Technological innovations including single-cell and AI approaches.
This Special Issue aims to consolidate advances, foster understanding of male infertility, and accelerate innovative diagnostic and therapeutic solutions.
