Special Issue Introduction
As the digital landscape continues to expand, digital identity has become increasingly pivotal in the secure operation of online services and the protection of personal information. It underpins the authentication and authorization of users across a myriad of online platforms, including finance, healthcare, e-commerce, and social networks. With the widespread adoption of digital identities, concerns about their security, privacy, and trustworthiness have escalated. Rapid technological advancements, such as blockchain, biometrics, and artificial intelligence (AI), have provided innovative approaches to enhance the security and management of digital identities. However, these advancements also introduce new challenges, including the risks of identity theft, privacy breaches, and fraudulent activities. The growing use of digital identities in critical services and transactions necessitates the development of robust security mechanisms, privacy-preserving techniques, and trust frameworks.
This Special Issue seeks to gather the latest research and developments in the security, privacy, and trust of digital identities, aiming to provide a comprehensive understanding of current challenges and future directions in this vital area. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
● AI-driven Identity Fraud Detection;
● Authentication and Authorization Mechanisms;
● Access Control in the Internet-of-Things (IoT) and Distributed Systems;
● Biometric/Blockchain-based Identity Management Systems;
● Cross-Border Identity Verification;
● Digital Wallets and Verifiable Credentials;
● Decentralized Identity and Self-Sovereign Identity;
● Identity Theft Detection and Prevention;
● Privacy-Preserving Technologies for Identity Management;
● Regulatory Compliance and Legal Aspects;
● Trust Frameworks for Identity Management Solutions.
Academics, research students and professionals are invited to submit their original work. Extended conference papers with at least 50% new content are also welcome.
