Topic: Machine Learning Techniques in Additive Manufacturing: Design, Processes and Production Control

Compared to traditional manufacturing techniques such as machining and molding, additive manufacturing has been revolutionizing the manufacturing industry due to its unique ability to create parts with complex shapes, multiple materials, and tailored mechanical performance. While additive manufacturing has a wide range of applications in aerospace, automotive, machinery, energy, medical device, and sports industries, a few of the biggest challenges faced by the manufacturing industry include design for additive manufacturing, reliability of additive manufacturing processes, and quality control of additively manufactured parts.

The objective of this Special Issue is to seek high-quality papers that advance research in the field of machine learning-assisted additive manufacturing. Specific topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
● Machine learning-enabled materials design for additive manufacturing;
● Machine learning-enabled topology optimization for additive manufacturing;
● Machine learning-assisted process monitoring, diagnosis, and prognosis of additive manufacturing machines;
● Machine learning-assisted process optimization of additive manufacturing;
● Machine learning-assisted defect detection in additive manufacturing;
● Physics-informed machine learning in additive manufacturing.
