Special Issue Introduction

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the leading causes of cancer death around the world. With the recent advancements in screening and comprehensive therapy, CRC mortality rates are decreasing. Surgery is the cornerstone for CRC treatment. New developments in colorectal surgery have been driven primarily by technical innovations and evidence-based medicine. The introduction of laparoscopy and robotic surgery revolutionized the surgical management of CRC. The introduction of some novel technologies in colorectal surgery is both stimulating and controversial. In this Special Issue, more attention is paid to the novel technologies and procedures in colorectal surgery. Novel technologies and practice innovations will be expected to improve patient outcomes and quality of life. Researches will be necessary to further define the safety and efficacy of these novel surgical techniques and to further define best practices in the surgical management of CRC. We therefore invite authors to submit research on novel technologies and procedures in colorectal surgery. Besides that, trails or review papers on novel concepts of neoadjuvant or adjuvant therapy for CRC are also encouraged.
