Special Topic Introduction
With the deep integration of cyberspace and physical systems, Networked Control Systems (NCS) have become the foundational infrastructure for modern intelligent industries. While offering advantages like flexible architecture and cost efficiency, NCS also introduce significant challenges, including constrained communication bandwidth, network-induced delays, and vulnerability to security threats. Event-Triggered Control (ETC), as a promising resource-aware control paradigm, effectively alleviates network congestion by transmitting data and executing control actions only when necessary. It has garnered extensive attention for enhancing the efficiency and resilience of NCS. This Special Issue aims to gather the latest research advances in intelligent ETC methodologies and their cutting-edge applications across various domains.
This Special Issue focuses on novel theories, designs, and applications of event-triggered control for networked systems. We particularly encourage submissions on intelligent and resilient ETC strategies. Relevant topics include, but are not limited to:
(1) Advanced Intelligent ETC Strategies:
- Data-driven event-triggered control (e.g., based on offline/online operational data).
- Reinforcement learning-based event-triggered control (e.g., adaptive threshold tuning, optimal triggering policy learning).
- Event-triggered control integrating other advanced methods (e.g., fuzzy logic, neural networks, prescribed performance control).
(2) Resilient ETC under Complex Conditions:
- Event-triggered control under cyber-attacks (e.g., denial-of-service, false data injection, deception attacks).
- Event-triggered control under stochastic disturbances, uncertainties, and time-varying delays.
- Security and privacy-preserving event-triggered control schemes.
(3) Applications in Engineering and Beyond:
- Formation flight of UAVs, satellite constellation control.
- Cooperative control of autonomous underwater vehicles.
- Networked robotic systems, industrial IoT.
- Precision agriculture, automated greenhouse systems.
- Connected and autonomous vehicles, traffic signal networks.
- Networked physiological closed-loop systems, tele-operated surgery.
