Topic: Innovative Technologies for Green and Sustainable Manufacturing

Increasingly serious environmental pollution and gradually depleted natural resources have become major issues for mankind. Thus, it is urgent to develop innovative materials, processes, and technologies to enhance both economic and environmental benefits so as to achieve green manufacturing and sustainable development by minimizing adverse environmental impacts while conserving energy and natural resources. Firstly, in order to improve sustainability, innovative materials, such as biodegradable materials, lightweight materials, recyclable materials, artificial materials, metamaterials, and so on, should be introduced. Secondly, innovative processing approaches, such as ultrafast laser direct writing, additive manufacturing, and virtual manufacturing, which can reduce material consumption, waste generation, and energy consumption, are also key factors in maintaining sustainable development in green manufacturing. Finally, innovative technologies, such as big data analysis, digital twin, augmented reality, industrial internet of things, and artificial intelligence, can realize real-time monitoring and prediction of the production process. These innovative technologies can be applied in the manufacturing to optimize the production process and reduce unnecessary energy consumption and material waste.
