Special Issue Introduction
This Special Issue is intended to highlight recent progress and developments in resilience testbed analyses worldwide. After a decade of development, community resilience research has developed to the point where models of different urban systems – physical infrastructure, social and economic institutions – have been integrated realistically in complex urban testbeds by research centers around the world. While these testbed studies share features in common, they have been conducted in countries with different social-economic-governance systems. As a result, they emphasize different aspects and dimensions of community resilience planning. We hope to assemble a collection of comprehensive testbed studies that illustrate holistic insights and integrated visions from different societies on community resilience planning. These testbed studies will include (but not limited to):
● Holistic testbed resilience evaluation and uncertainty modeling
● Resilience enhancement decisions in a testbed considering multiple systems
● Integrated testbed recovery simulation and prioritization
● Short- or long-term risk forecast of testbeds facing approaching or future challenges
● Regulation and governance of testbed resilience planning
● Social-economic-organizational resilience modeling of a testbed under natural hazards
