Special Issue Introduction

Amphiphilic polymers, with their remarkable ability to simultaneously exhibit hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties, have garnered considerable attention in the realm of materials science and nanotechnology. The amphiphilicity of these polymers arises from the covalent incorporation of hydrophilic and hydrophobic segments within a single macromolecular chain. This structural duality imparts amphiphilic polymers with the ability to spontaneously self-assemble in aqueous or organic environments, forming a wide range of supramolecular structures such as micelles, cylinders, vesicles, lamellae, gels, and more complicated multicompartmental and hierarchical nano/micro-objects. The design, synthesis, and self-assembly behaviors of these distinctive polymers have pioneered exhilarating prospects, especially in facilitating the creation of advanced materials with diverse applications encompassing drug delivery, stimuli-responsive coatings and sensors, energy storage and conversion, color expression and lithography, and numerous other domains. This Special Issue is dedicated to exploring the multifaceted world of amphiphilic polymers, delving into the intricacies of their design, synthesis, and self-assembly. Furthermore, we will explore the extensive applications of amphiphilic polymers in the field of chemistry and related areas.

Specific areas to be covered include, but are not limited to:
● Design and synthesis of amphiphilic polymers;
● Self-assembly behavior of amphiphilic polymers;
● Characterization of amphiphilic polymers;
● Amphiphilic polymers for energy storage and conversion;
● Amphiphilic polymers for materials science and nanomaterial preparation;
● Amphiphilic polymers for nanoparticle synthesis and nanotechnology;
● Amphiphilic polymers for drug delivery and biomedical applications.
