Topic: Advanced Characterization Techniques and Applications for Catalytic Materials
Guest Editor
Special Issue Introduction
Catalytic science and technology play an important role in modern society. They often trigger revolutionary industrial changes with huge social and economic benefits by introducing new catalytic materials or processes. These materials and processes are widely used in oil refining, chemical, pharmaceutical, and environmental protection industries. Catalytic science has evolved from traditional thermal catalysis to photocatalysis, electrocatalysis, and biocatalysis in multidisciplinary crossover research and application areas. Advanced spectroscopic techniques have enhanced the understanding of the structure and nature of catalytic materials. The principles and applications of these techniques have become an important research direction in catalysis. Multidimensional and cross-scale characterization of catalytic materials has been enabled by recent advances in hardware and software, leading to significant development of catalytic science and technology. This issue will discuss various advanced spectroscopic characterization techniques and their applications in catalytic materials. It aims to demonstrate the strengths and weaknesses of spectroscopic characterization techniques in addressing frontier scientific problems in catalysis. The issue will also explore future prospects of spectroscopic characterization techniques with the objective of fostering interdisciplinary advancement.
Specific areas to be covered include, but are not limited to:
