Special Topic Introduction
The dynamic operation of complex autonomous systems in real-world environments is highly nonlinear, uncertain, and difficult to be precisely analyzed. Various challenges may lead to degraded tracking accuracy, reduced robustness, unsafe maneuvering, or even mission failure, which can cause significant safety risks. As numerous aerospace, ground, and robotic systems can be modeled and operated as complex autonomous systems, the related issues, including intelligent navigation, flight control, path planning, cooperative decision-making, and real-time optimization, have become increasingly important and attractive. New conceptual approaches to intelligent navigation, guidance, and flight control, both analytically and through computer simulation and experimental validation, are urgently required for complex autonomous systems.
This Special Issue aims to provide an opportunity for researchers to share recent advances in intelligent navigation, guidance, and flight control for complex autonomous systems. This topic has attracted increasing attention in recent years, with remarkable growth concerning applications in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), aircraft, autonomous vehicles, swarm robotics, and intelligent transportation systems, and can be considered a timely and valuable contribution to the literature. Original research papers and high-quality review articles relating to the objective presented above are especially welcome.
Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:
● Path planning, trajectory optimization, and motion control in complex environments;
● Integrated navigation, sensor fusion, multimodal sensing, and state estimation under uncertainty;
● Safety-critical control, collision avoidance, and robust autonomy for autonomous systems;
● Reinforcement learning and artificial intelligence methods for autonomous guidance and control;
● Robust, adaptive, and learning-based control for UAV;
● Vision-and-language navigation for embodied agents;
● UAV control for dexterous manipulation, transportation, and interaction tasks;
● Cooperative navigation, guidance, and control of multi-agent autonomous systems;
● Swarm intelligence, formation control, and distributed decision-making;
● Applications of intelligent autonomous systems in aerospace, robotics, and transportation engineering.
