Special Issue Introduction

Low-carbon cities refer to cities that maintain low energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions under the premise of rapid economic development. A zero carbon city is environment-friendly and minimizes greenhouse gas emissions, also known as an "eco-city". "Zero carbon city" is realized by the energy conservation and environmental protection of the various systems that make up the city's functions, that is, through "zero carbon transportation", "zero carbon buildings", "zero carbon energy", and "zero carbon family" to finally create a "zero carbon city".

Low-carbon cities have become the common pursuit of all parts of the world. Many international metropolises take pride in building and developing low-carbon cities, and pay attention to the minimization of costs in the process of economic development, as well as the harmony between humans and nature, and the ease and inclusiveness of human nature.

This topic mainly focuses on the challenges and obstacles faced by various subjects in cities in the process of achieving low-carbon or zero-carbon cities. If these obstacles are reduced through new business models or innovative and intelligent policies, and sustainable development can be implemented and implemented at the urban level as soon as possible, this is an important support and carrier for achieving the global sustainable development goal.

Proposed topics include, but are not limited to:
● Synergistic mechanism of energy transformation and economic growth of low-carbon cities;
● The role of innovative low-carbon technology in low-carbon cities;
● Green design and construction industry development of low-carbon cities;
● Sustainable growth of low-carbon cities and public transport;
● Green consumption mechanism in the process of low-carbon urbanization;
● Distributed new energy systems in low carbon cities;
● Analysis of typical cases in the construction of low carbon cities in the world;
● Comparative analysis of global low-carbon city development models;
