The Webinar "Microvesicles/Exosomes in Vascular Biology" Organized by Vessel Plus Has Been Held Successfully
On November 11, 2022, the webinar "Microvesicles/Exosomes in Vascular Biology" organized by Vessel Plus and chaired by Dr. Narasimham L. Parinandi from the Department of Medicine, the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, USA, was held successfully.
Three international Guest Speakers delivered wonderful speeches and shared their innovative research insights into microvesicles or exosomes in vascular biology.
Speaker 1:
Ms. Rebecca Shaheen
The Hund Lab, Department of Biomedical Engineering, College of Engineering, the Ohio State University, USA.
Topic: What Are Exosomes?
Prof. Thomas J. Hund, Associate Director for the Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute, attended the webinar as Ms. Rebecca Shaheen's mentor and encouraged her to share research results.
Speaker 2:
Prof. Theresa L. Whiteside
Departments of Pathology, Immunology and Otolaryngology, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, USA.
Topic: The Role of sEV -Associated Adenosine in Promoting Angiogenesis
Speaker 3:
Dr. Sanjay Varikuti
Department of Pathology, The Ohio State University Medical Center, USA.
Topic: The Role of Exosomes in the Parasitic Infections through Blood Vessels
In addition to the excellent speeches, there was also an exciting and interactive discussion in this webinar. During the discussion, Prof. Theresa L. Whiteside elaborated on the design strategy of exosomes in cancer and infectious diseases with many examples. Based on the speech "What is Exosomes?", Ms. Rebecca Shaheen explained the meaning of exosome engineering and their origin in detail. Besides, Dr. Sanjay Varikuti thought it’s very important that some bioengineering technologies are compatible with targeting exosomes specifically.
