2018 Annual Work Report of Stomatological Disease and Science
On January 15, 2019, Annual Report meeting of Stomatological Disease and Science (SDS) was held in Beijing, China. SDS Editorial Office gave a report on the development of the journal over the past year, which reads as follows.
SDS has gone through another year with your testimony. In this year, the Editorial Board members and Editorial Office worked together to move another step forward on the journal development.
In 2018, with the expansion of the influence of the journal, we received a total of 30 submissions in a wide range of research fields from all over the world. Among them, 10 articles were selected and published in SDS through rigorous peer review, the majority of which are Original Articles, Review and rare Case Reports. The articles were from 8 countries in the world, mainly Japan and Egypt.
By the end of 2018, articles published in SDS had been browsed 119,528 times and downloaded 4,665 times in total, almost tripled the records in 2017. Among them, articles published in 2018 had been browsed 11,339 times and downloaded 441 times. One of Editorial Board members Tamer A. Hamza's contribution "Effect of artificially accelerated aging on margin fit and color stability of laminate veneer" received the highest downloads and another original article "Evaluation of the serum ceruloplasmin level before and after non-surgical periodontal therapy in patients with chronic periodontitis" received the highest views. Up to now, the journal's readership has expanded from 118 countries in 2017 to 146 countries, dominated by the United States and China.
While attracting experts from different regions of the world to contribute to the journal, we are also organizing Special Issues on hot topics in the field of stomatology. One of our associated Editors, Dr. Raúl González-García, has successfully set up a Special Issue on "Advances in Surgical Treatment of Temporomandibular Joint Diseases". Submissions to the Special Issue are now under processing and expected to be published in February.
With a larger leadership and growing influence, SDS has been indexed by the following 4 databases: CNKI, Open J-Gate, ResearchBib, Chaoxing "Domain" Publishing Platform. We have also become member of Crossref, which is not only a great recognition of our work but also an encouragement in pursuing higher academic and ethical standards in publishing service.
What’s more, we have upgraded the journal website comprehensively with better visual experience, advanced search function, statistics on citations, etc. We have also developed and launched MESAs, an all-in-one submission system which enhances the experience for authors, peer-reviewers and Editors and improves coordination efficiency among different departments in the whole editorial process.
Hereby, the editorial team would like to express our sincere gratitude to our Editor-in-Chief, Editorial Board members, reviewers, readers and authors for their dedication and continuous support since the launching of the journal. Although SDS is still a young journal, it is full of energy and has great potential. In 2019, we will continue to follow the leadership of Editor-in-Chief and all Editorial Board members to build a better collaboration with reviewers, authors and readers, keeping moving towards a higher level of professional publication and serve more researchers in the field!
