On September 7th 2017, Prof. David N. Cooper, from Cardiff University (UK), and Prof. Jian-Min Chen, from INSERM (Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale, Brest, France) visited the Xi'an office of OAE Publishing Inc. Together with OAE Publishing Inc., agreements on the launch and future development of the new "Journal of Translational Genetics and Genomics (JTGG)" were reached.

During the JTGG meeting, Mr. Min-Fan, Executive Director of OAE Publishing Inc., extended his sincere welcome to Prof. Cooper and Prof. Chen, committing the company to publish high-quality and influential academic journals via the internet to rapidly disseminate academic advances in the field. The Managing Editor, Dandan Yu, gave a brief introduction to JTGG. Based on his own editorial experience over many years, Prof. Cooper made many constructive proposals in relation to the journal scope, team building, the peer-review process, website building as well as journal marketing and promotion. Meanwhile, Prof. Jian-Min Chen proposed his own plans with regard to the journal aims, establishment of the Editorial Board, soliciting manuscripts, publishing manuscripts and ensuing publicity for the journal. During the discussion, all sides highlighted the publication process and emphasized team cooperation, which will establish sound foundations for future work.

After a 7-hour discussion, collaborations were established. Mr. Min Fan formally appointed Prof. Jian-Min Chen as Editor-in-Chief for JTGG, and Prof. David N. Cooper as Academic Advisor, with the aim to develop JTGG into an international, highly influential academic journal in the field of genetics and genomics thereby providing a more innovative and accessible platform for experts within this field around the world.

David N. Cooper is Professor of Human Molecular Genetics at Cardiff University. His research interests are largely focused upon elucidating the mechanisms of mutagenesis underlying human genetic disease, but also include the study of the genotype–phenotype relationship in various inherited disorders, as well as human evolutionary and population genetics.
He has published more than 500 papers in the field of human molecular genetics and has authored or edited a number of books including Human Gene Mutation (1993), Human Gene Evolution (1999), Nature Encyclopedia of the Human Genome (2003), Molecular Genetics of Lung Cancer (2005), Handbook of Human Molecular Evolution (2008) and Copy Number Variation and Disease (2009).
He curates the Human Gene Mutation Database (http://www.hgmd.org), a comprehensive database of mutations causing human inherited disease, which is marketed internationally through a commercial partner, Qiagen. Professor Cooper is European Editor of Human Genetics and Editor of the Genetics & Disease section of Wiley's Encyclopedia of Life Sciences. He is also a member of several Editorial Boards including the Journal of Medical Genetics and Human Mutation as well as Human Genomics.

Biography of Prof. Jian-Min Chen:

Jian-Min Chen graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine from the Fourth Military Medical University (Xi'an, China). He received his MD from the Academy of Military Medical Sciences (Beijing, China) and a PhD from the Université de Bretagne Occidentale (Brest, France). He worked as a Visiting Research Fellow in the Department of Immunology, Institute for Frontier Medical Sciences, Kyoto University, Kyoto, Japan (1996-1998) before he joined the INSERM (Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale) team led by Prof. Claude Férec in Brest, France. He has been Director of Research in Brest since 2008. His previous editorial experience includes serving as a Reviews Editor of Human Genetics (2007-2009), a Communicating Editor of Human Mutation (since 2016) and an Editorial Board member of several international genetics and genomics journals. His major research interests include the mutational/pathological mechanisms underlying naturally occurring human variants in general and the genetic etiology of chronic pancreatitis in particular.
