On January 1, 2021, the new journal One Health & Implementation Research (OHIR) was officially released online after several months of preliminary work. Communicable and non-communicable diseases and increasing antimicrobial resistance demand a comprehensive understanding of the relation between health and disease as well as their determinants, considering human, animal, plant and environmental disciplines on a global scale. Within this context, OHIR aims to promote multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary research that provides evidence for improving health for all. Thus, OHIR was launched by OAE Publishing Inc. and led by a well-known scholar Jorg Heukelbach, who serves as the Editor-in-Chief. Dr. Heukelbach has carried out detailed planning for the journal and established the Editorial Board comprised of 29 outstanding scholars.

One health is indispensable to attaining the Sustainable Development Goals and to developing effective and evidence-based responses to the current local, national, and global health threats. Communicable and non-communicable diseases, zoonoses, and increasing antimicrobial resistance demand a comprehensive understanding of the relation between health and disease, as well as their determinants on a global scale. The presence and absence of diseases and health conditions are determined by a variety of factors, including those related to people and society, animal health, governance and health systems, and environment and climate change. The processes leading to disease and conditions are intrinsically interlinked with each other, within a complex web of causation. In this context, the new journal aims to promote multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary research that provides evidence for improving health for all.
