OAE Partners with CEPIEC to Enable APC Payments in CNY via SocoPay

OAE is pleased to announce a collaboration with SocoPay, an academic payment platform operated by China Educational Publications Import & Export Corporation Ltd. (CEPIEC, Beijing, China), to simplify Article Processing Charge (APC) payments. Through this collaboration, authors can now pay APCs in Chinese yuan (CNY) via multiple Chinese payment methods—including WeChat Pay, Alipay, UnionPay, and institutional bank transfers—regardless of their geographic location. This eliminates the need for international credit cards or foreign currency transactions.

Simplifying APC Payments

SocoPay provides localized payment solutions tailored to the academic publishing community. In addition to convenient payment methods, SocoPay issues official Chinese Value-Added Tax (VAT) invoices, Fapiao, helping authors comply with reimbursement and financial reporting requirements. SocoPay is certified under international information security standards, including ISO/IEC 27001:2013 — Information technology — Security techniques — Information security management systems — Requirements, ensuring that all transactions are secure and reliable.

Supporting the Global Dissemination of Research

Since its launch in 2021, SocoPay has served over 3,000 universities, research institutes, and organizations, and has collaborated with multiple international academic publishers to streamline cross-border scholarly publishing payments. Through this partnership, OAE aims to reduce financial and administrative complexity for authors when publishing in Open Access journals. By optimizing payment workflows, this collaboration supports the rapid dissemination and international visibility of scientific research.
