Introducing Homeostatic Medicine: A New Journal Exploring the Balance Between Health and Disease
We are excited to announce the official launch of Homeostatic Medicine, a new international, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing the understanding of biological equilibrium and its disruption in disease.
Under the leadership of Founding Editor-in-Chief Prof. Ralf Weiskirchen from RWTH University Hospital Aachen, Germany, Homeostatic Medicine aims to serve as a comprehensive platform for cutting-edge research on the molecular, cellular, and systemic mechanisms that maintain internal stability across diverse biological systems.
At the core of the journal’s mission is the exploration of how homeostasis is preserved, regulated, and disturbed—and how these processes inform our understanding of health and disease. The journal welcomes contributions from a wide range of disciplines, including:
- Physiology
- Pathology
- Immunology
- Systems Biology
- Clinical and Translational Medicine
Whether experimental or theoretical, submissions should illuminate the complex interplay among genetic, physiological, and environmental factors involved in homeostatic regulation.
Homeostatic Medicine accepts a broad array of article types, including Original Articles, Reviews, Commentaries, Mini-Reviews, Systematic Reviews, Meta-analyses, Editorials, Perspectives, Opinions, Communications, Letters to the Editor, and Research Highlights.
With a strong commitment to academic rigor and innovation, Homeostatic Medicine invites researchers worldwide to contribute and engage in meaningful discussions that may reshape approaches to disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment through the lens of homeostatic regulation.
Stay tuned as we build a dynamic, interdisciplinary community at the forefront of biomedical research.
About the Editor-in-Chief
Prof. Ralf Weiskirchen is Director of the Institute of Molecular Pathobiochemistry, Experimental Gene Therapy, and Clinical Chemistry (IFMPEGKC) at RWTH University Hospital Aachen, Germany. He is an internationally recognized expert in liver fibrosis and metabolic liver diseases. With over 370 original research articles and 240 review articles published, he has achieved an h-index of 73 and was named to the 2024 Clarivate Highly Cited Researchers™ list.
Prof. Weiskirchen holds several prominent editorial roles, including Executive Editor of Journal of Cell Communication and Signaling, and serves on the Editorial Boards of numerous high-impact journals. He is a permanent member of the medical examination committee at RWTH Aachen and has supervised more than 40 PhD, MD, and DDS students, contributing significantly to academic training and scientific leadership.
His research focuses on hepatic stellate cell activation, liver cancer progression, TGF-β signaling, and lipid metabolism, with major contributions to the understanding of MASLD (metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease), NASH, and hepatocellular carcinoma.
