Introduction

The manufacturing and production industries are currently undergoing digital transformation in order to incorporate advanced information and communication technologies within the Industry 4.0 framework. This involves using Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) to facilitate machine-to-machine (M2M) communication. In a complementary way, Industry 5.0 will emphasize communication between humans and machines, also known as Human-Machine-Interface (HMI), with a focus on human-centered values, sustainability, and resilience. Therefore, Industry 5.0 is a value-driven approach based on three interconnected core pillars: human-centricity, sustainability, and resilience. It is necessary for Industry 5.0 to build upon the technological advances and foundations laid by Industry 4.0, and to further implement the human-centric aspect of technologies in Society 5.0. Society 5.0 represents a shift from a technology-driven to a human-centered societal and business model, with a focus on personalized services and sustainable development. Realizing sustainable development is a key goal for the modern era, with a particular emphasis on the objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), defined by the United Nations. Therefore, the aim of this webinar is to highlight the research implications in areas relevant to upcoming Industry 5.0, Society 5.0, and beyond.
