Bio
Prof. Yan-Xin Chen is a full Professor of Xiamen Institute of Rare-Earth Materials, Haixi Institutes, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

He received his master degree under Prof. Shi-Gang Sun’s supervision from Xiamen University, China in 2009. He obtained his doctor degree from the Trieste University, under Prof. Paolo Fornasiero’s supervision, Italy in 2012. He successively worked as postdoctoral researcher in the University of Ulm, (Germany, 2013-2016), in the Flemish Institute for Technological Research (VITO, Belgium, 2016-2017) and in the University of Namur, (Belgium, 2017-2018), under the guidance of Prof. Timo Jacob; Dr. Xochitl Dominguez and Prof. Bao-Lian Su respectively. After returning to Xiamen Institute of Rare-Earth Materials, Haixi Institutes, Chinese Academy of Sciences, he became a full professor from 2019 to now. He has received Hundred-Talent in Haixi Institutes, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China in 2018; High-Level Overseas Talent of Xiamen City, China in 2019; High-Level Talent of Fujian Province, China in 2020; High Level and Backbone Talents of Xiamen City, China in 2020; Shortage of Talents in Key Industries of Xiamen City, China in 2021.

He has published 26 SCI papers in J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Nat. Commun., Green Chem, ChemSusChem, J. Energy Chem., Nanoscale, Electrochimica Acta, Inorg. Chem., ChemElectroChem, Appl. Surf. Sci., Curr Opin Electrochem, Chin. J. Struc. Chem. etc. with more than 300 citations and an H index of 10 and also is a principal leader of 4 research projects.

Prof. Chen has been engaged in research area related to the development, storage and conversion of renewable energy for more than 10 years. His current research fields include the renewable energy conversion; the development of metal oxide substrates; shape-controlled synthesis of the supported co-catalysts; DFT simulation of the electrode surface reaction process.

Research Interests
the photochemical/photoelectrochemical energy conversion, photocatalysis and photo-reforming, self-organized TiO2 nanotubes arrays, direct ethanol fuel cells, electrochemically shape-controlled synthesis.
