Bio
Prof. Yann Garcia is a full professor at the Institute of Condensed Matter and Nanosciences, Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain), Belgium.

He obtained his doctorate from the University of Bordeaux after a dissertation supervised by Prof. O. Kahn. After a postdoc in Mainz University with Prof. P. Gütlich, he was appointed.

Prof. Garcia is an editorial board member of European Journal of Inorganic Chemistry (Wiley-VCH, Chemistry Europe) and the associate editor of the Mössbauer Effect Reference Data Journal. He has been an Editor-in-Chief of Current Inorganic Chemistry (2011-2018). He is elected president of the French Speaking Mössbauer Society (GFSM) and international board member of the Applications of the Mössbauer Effect. In 2009, he was selected among the next future leaders of Mössbauer spectroscopy by the Mössbauer Effect Data Center (North Carolina University, USA). He was specially highlighted by the European Journal of Inorganic Chemistry in 2018 owing to his scientific contribution (DOI: 10.1002/ejic.201701486).

His research interests extend from supramolecular functional coordination chemistry with focus on photo- and thermoswitches, spin crossover materials and hybrid inorganic-organic materials for water cleaning technologies and various sensing applications.

Prof. Garcia has published more than 250 publications in high impact journals, 13 book chapters on Inorganic Chemistry, guest editors of 4 special issues in European Journal of Inorganic Chemistry (3) and New Journal of Chemistry (1), 2 patents. He has a h-index of 52 with more than 11,798 citations.
Research Interests
photo- and thermoswitchable coordination compounds, coordination polymers and metal organic frameworks, spin crossover phenomena, molecular (photo) magnetism, dynamic phenomena and phase transitions in the solid state, chemical applications of moessbauer spectroscopy, hybrid inorganic-organic materials, smart sensors, cleaning water technologies, antibacterial agents.
