New journal: GreenMat Energy
GreenMat Energy is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing sustainable, low-carbon, and green energy materials. The journal is founded on the belief that the energy transition requires more than incremental performance gains: it demands a fundamental rethinking of how materials are designed, produced, deployed, and reintegrated into circular energy systems.
Energy materials have traditionally been developed with efficiency and performance as primary targets. Today, climate change, resource limitations, and environmental constraints require a broader paradigm in which sustainability becomes an intrinsic design criterion. GreenMat Energy addresses this need by providing a platform for research that integrates energy functionality with environmental responsibility, circularity, and system-level thinking.
Materials science underpins all major energy technologies, from batteries and supercapacitors to hydrogen systems, photovoltaics, and thermoelectrics. However, next-generation solutions increasingly rely on bio-based materials, low-carbon synthesis routes, recyclable architectures, and eco-friendly processing. GreenMat Energy embraces this evolution, welcoming contributions that treat sustainability as a core material property rather than an external constraint.
In parallel, artificial intelligence, data-driven modeling, and high-throughput computational approaches are reshaping materials discovery and optimization. When combined with advanced characterization - particularly operando and in situ techniques - these tools enable a deeper understanding of structure-property-performance relationships across scales. The journal aims to be a natural home for such integrative and forward-looking research.
The scope of GreenMat Energy spans green energy conversion and storage, sustainable and bio-derived materials, artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted materials design, advanced characterization, and emerging interdisciplinary topics, including circular economy strategies and the integration of sustainable materials into functional devices and systems. By bridging experimental, computational, and data-centric approaches, the journal seeks to foster cross-disciplinary dialogue and innovation.
Led by an international editorial board of recognized experts, GreenMat Energy is committed to rigorous peer review, rapid publication, and high editorial standards. Beyond disseminating results, the journal aspires to help shape research directions that address global energy challenges.
We invite researchers from academia and industry worldwide to contribute to GreenMat Energy and to participate in building a journal that reflects the urgency and responsibility of the energy transition. Sustainable energy materials are not simply a research field - they are a foundation for our collective future.
