Special Issue Introduction

Global warming and disruptions caused by natural disasters have become increasingly prevalent, gaining worldwide attention in recent decades. These events can potentially cause significant societal impact, with floods emerging as a major concern due to their destructive consequences, including fatalities, the spread of disease vectors, property damage, and disruptions to essential services. In this sense, mitigating flood risk has been a prominent global concern, especially in light of ongoing climate change and its impact on extreme weather events. Managing and preventing flood-related disasters present significant challenges for policymakers, technical professionals, organizations, and civil society. Effective flood risk management entails the use of comprehensive tools to analyze the impacts of these events, highlighting system limitations and anticipating future challenges. These efforts are considered fundamental in reducing risks and promoting sustainable development. Therefore, analyzing and modeling flood risks and associated aspects are essential for gaining new insights, developing methods and techniques, and advancing flood risk analysis to reduce risk and facilitate proactive actions against such events. This Special Issue focuses on publishing the latest research in the field of flood risk analysis and advancements.

The specific topics covered in this Special Issue include, but are not limited to:

● Decision-making processes;

● Uncertainty analysis;

● Climate change scenarios;

● Post-disaster recovery;

● Resilience evaluation;

● Hydrological modeling;

● Flood forecasting;

● Urban floods.
