Special Issue Introduction

As cyber-physical systems (CPSs) evolve, intelligence and automation have been integrated into all facets of production and daily life. CPSs fuse computing, communication and control technologies to efficiently allocate resources and sense, manage, and regulate all aspects of human life.

In recent years, these systems have been widely applied across industrial production, smart grid, intelligent transportation, intelligent medical care, and national defense, greatly improving human productivity and quality of life. However, network openness exposes them to numerous threats, including cyberattacks and communication resource scarcity. Moreover, their physical layer also presents concerns such as system nonlinearity, random perturbations and uncertainty, which disrupts system stability. These phenomena introduce various challenges on the control analysis and synthesis. Recently, they have become a hot subject in the automation field, garnering extensive attention. 

This Special Issue aims to bring together significant developments on the control analysis and synthesis to enhance the robustness, stability, and security of CPSs. Topics include, but are not limited to:

● Security control for CPSs;

● Event-triggered control for CPSs;

● Scheduling protocol/communication protocol-based control for CPSs;

● Security design in CPSs;

● Privacy considerations for CPSs;

● Security management control and system issues in CPSs;

● Security communication modeling and analysis in CPSs;

● Sliding mode control for CPSs;

● Data-driven and learning-based resilience control for CPSs;

● Optimization methods and control in CPSs;

● Fault-detection and isolation for CPSs;

● Game-theoretic control approaches for CPSs; 

● Privacy-preserving algorithms for CPSs;

● Estimation problems in CPSs.
