Special Issue Introduction
Engineering and civil structures routinely face the challenge of random loads, such as earthquakes and wind-induced forces. These unpredictable forces, coupled with the inherent nonlinearity in structural materials (such as hysteresis) and the geometric nonlinearity during strong vibrations, often result in nonlinear random vibrations. Such severe vibrations may significantly affect the structural lifespan and even lead to local or widespread damage. Consequently, dynamic analysis and vibration suppression of structures with random loads are paramount concerns within the civil or engineering communities. In recent years, numerous advanced random vibration methods and novel vibration suppression techniques have been proposed. In light of these developments, this Special Issue aims to delve into the latest advances in theories and methods for vibration analysis of structures with random loads. Additionally, it focuses on the evolution of theories and techniques for vibration suppression, including passive, semi-active, and active approaches. The scope of the Special Issue is expansive, and we enthusiastically invite contributions not only on these specific themes but also on pertinent topics.
