Special Issue Introduction

With the recent clinical successes of the PARP inhibitors, the DNA repair pathways have come to the forefront as a bona fide target for personalized treatment of cancers with defective homologous recombination repair. Additionally, DNA repair (genome instability) is a well-established hallmark of cancer and can be a means for dictating tumor sensitivity and resistance to traditional treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation. In this Special Issue, we will provide a basic, translational, and clinical overview of the interactions of the various DNA repair pathways as it relates to carcinogenesis, treatment, and biomarker of response.

Keywords

DNA damage response pathways, DNA repair pathways, cellular response to chemotherapeutics, DNA damage response/repair inhibitors, combination therapy, genome instability, immunotherapy
